Kryptoměny

Kryptoměny, or cryptocurrencies, are digital or virtual currencies that utilize cryptography for security. They are decentralized and typically operate on technology called blockchain, which is a distributed ledger enforced by a network of computers (nodes). This decentralization differentiates them from traditional fiat currencies, which are regulated by central banks.

Cryptocurrencies allow for secure, peer-to-peer transactions without the need for intermediaries, such as banks. They enable users to perform transactions globally with reduced fees and often provide a higher level of anonymity. Bitcoin, created in 2009, is the first and most well-known cryptocurrency; however, thousands of alternatives exist, each with unique features and use cases, such as Ethereum, Litecoin, and Ripple.

The value of cryptocurrencies can be highly volatile, influenced by market demand, technological developments, regulatory news, and macroeconomic factors. Cryptocurrencies can be used for various purposes, including online purchases, remittances, investment vehicles, and as a means of raising funds through Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). The growing interest in cryptocurrencies has led to an expanding ecosystem, including exchanges, wallets, and decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms.
